Are the photos taken in the app displayed in the device's gallery?

If you take photos on the app, automatically they stay on the app (ie: don't sync automatically to the phone's gallery) but if you tap on the photo you have taken, and then the icon in the bottom right hand corner, you will be given the option to save the image to your phone.
